Meteorology touches upon virtually all aspects of human activity. Consequently,
a variety of career opportunities are available for graduates. Meteorologists
are employed in all the economic sectors - private, government and military
Take observations and analyze weather data, make short-range and long-range
weather forecasts and issue weather warnings.
Broadcast global, national and regional forecasts over radio and television.
Serve as consultants (to utilities, airlines, transportation, agriculture,
manufacturing and government) providing expertise in areas ranging from
weather modification to pollution control to energy generation to resource
Conduct both theoretical and experimental research in the atmospheric sciences
(often in collaboration with scientists from other disciplines and often
utilizing sophisticated computer, satellite and remote sensing technology)
Teach meteorology, primarily at the college/university level.
Many students choose to continue their education by going to graduate
school. Most have received full research or teaching assistantships. Some
