Select a region, time, map size, density for plotted data, background color for map, geopolitical boundary (map outline) color, scaling size for plotted data and/or contour labels, first variable, type of contoured or plotted map, contour interval, color of plotted data or line contours, and similar settings can be set for a second variable for an overlay map.
Notes:
- Online data here go back 36 hours. However, you can go back much further (years) in time at our archived data site.
- The station plot legend is shown here.
- NCEP front data that cover N. America are available as an overlay option. The associated time shown may be off by an hour or two, since these data are only available every 3 hours and are valid for 00Z,03Z,06Z,09Z,12Z,15Z,18Z, and 21Z. Choosing an intermediate hour will return data for the previous valid hour and not nexessarily for the hour shown.
- The 912x650 size works best for full page 8.5"x11.5" printing, if you select the landscape orientation using the "Properties" or "Preferences" option of the print window.
